Entity Type-Objects contain an object-specific description of the entity to be processed, which enables the EntitySelector step to select documents or interchanges of a certain type (PRICAT, ORDRSP, DESADV, and so on) and pass them on to the next steps. In addition, entity types (usually used to describe the target format) of EntityTransformer steps are used to convert documents into other formats.
